Tunisian Refugee Council
The Tunisian Refugee Council is an active humanitarian organization in the field of asylum . it was established on June 28th, 2016, by the initiative of Mr Mustapha Djemali, former Regional Director at the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), and certain members representing the various sectors of the Tunisian civil society, to help manage issues relating to asylum in Tunisia and to support the Tunisian authorities in their efforts to find appropriate solutions to the difficulties encountered by refugees in Tunisia.
Our Objectives
The Tunisian Refugee Council, as stipulated in its statute, has the following objectives :
To contribute to the protection and assistance attributed to refugees and asylum seekers in Tunisia.
To contribute to the search for and implementation of durable solutions to the problems of refugees in Tunisia. It carries out the mission in full cooperation with internnational organizations and competent authorities.
To support the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in the implementation of its refugee protection programs.
To support the efforts of governmental and non-governmental actors in the field of asylum and assistance to refugees and asylum seekers.
The Tunisian Council ais to achieve thes objectives by the following legal means :
Conducting field studies to identify the concerns of refugees and asylum seekers
Organization of training sessions and workshops
Establishing and implementing programs and projects to assist refugees and asylum seekers in coordination and collaboration with UNHCR, Tunisian government authorities and other entities concerned with refugee problems.
Communicating with the public through the media to raise awareness of refugee issues in Tunisia and other countries.
